NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Belmont baseball team (8-5) will head on the road for the first time this season, playing at Auburn (8-6) in a three-game series this weekend.
The Bruins capped off its 13-game home stand to start the 2012 season with a pair of wins over Vanderbilt and Murray State during the midweek. Belmont has now won six of its last seven contests, and will start the weekend series on Friday at 6:00 p.m. BU and Auburn will also play Saturday at 3:00 p.m. and Sunday at 1:00 p.m. before returning home to host MTSU and Valparaiso next week.
Auburn welcomes Belmont to town with a record of 8-6 on the season. The Tigers opened the season with a 1-2 series loss at home to Missouri, and most recently defeated rival Alabamaby a score of 8-3 on Tuesday. Auburn is batting a staggering .324 through 12 games in 2012. Creede Simpson and Ryan Tella are leading the way with averages of .446 and .404, respectively. The former has already recorded 15 RBI and six doubles.
