NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont Baseball Head Coach Dave Jarvis and the Baseball staff are pleased to announce the signing of Joshua South to a National Letter of Intent for the 2018-2019 season.
South will join Belmont's talented pitchers as a right-handed hurler. South, a native of Cookeville, Tenn., has earned many accolades while playing for Cookeville High School under the direction of head coach Butch Chaffin. He has earned All-District honors after the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons while being named to the 2016 Tennessee Baseball Report All-Region Team. In addition, South was named to the 2015 and 2016 Tennessee Baseball Report Super Freshman and Sophomore Team. He was tabbed the 2017 District Pitcher of the Year.
"We are excited to have Josh join our family and pitching staff," said assistant coach Matt Barnett. He possesses all the qualities we look for as an incoming pitcher. He is projectable, has good secondary pitches and most importantly throws strikes. We look forward to watching his development over the next four years."
The pitcher played summer league with the Nashville Knights under the direction of former Belmont baseball players Eric Fruechtemeyer and Jason Anderegg.
