SALT LAKE CITY, Utah - - Belmont University men's basketball continued its preparation for Thursday's NCAA Men's Basketball Championship Second Round game against West Region No. 6 seed Arizona.
After morning breakfast and video sessions, the Bruins conducted a closed practice at nearby Westminster College. Belmont's Media Day obligations will be later Wednesday.
The Bruins join Kansas and Memphis as the only NCAA Division I men's basketball programs to earn automatic bids to the tournament at least six of the last eight years.
Belmont and Arizona are among the NCAA leaders in scoring margin, scoring offense, three-point field goals per game, and free throw percentage.
Ironically, the Bruins and Wildcats were two of just nine programs to win at least 30 games in 2010-11.
Though this marks the first meeting between Belmont and Arizona, the Bruins did play at the Wildcats' home - McKale Center - during the 2011 NCAA Tournament against Wisconsin.
Belmont is 1-4 lifetime against members of the Pacific-12 Conference, earning a 70-62 victory at Stanford Nov. 18, 2012.
Belmont is 2-2 against 2013 NCAA Tournament teams and 11-3 against 2013 postseason teams.
