NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball head coach Rick Byrd announced Wednesday the signing of Mitch Listau (Waunakee, Wis.) to a national letter of intent to play basketball for the Bruins, starting in the fall of 2018.
Listau, a 6-4 guard, averaged 21.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game in leading Waunakee High School to a 24-3 record and a second straight appearance in the Wisconsin WIAA Division 2 State Tournament. He shot 52 percent from the field, 80 percent from the free throw line, and 38 percent from 3-point distance.
"Our basketball program is really excited that Mitch Listau has chosen Belmont University," Byrd said. "Mitch is a versatile guard who can play any perimeter position. He plays with a maturity beyond his years, and is student-athlete in the truest sense of the term. He is a winner and has great leadership skills. We appreciate his confidence in us, and look forward to his career as a Bruin."
The swingman is a two-time Wisconsin First Team All-State selection and was named to the Wisconsin State Journal/WisconsinPrepZone.com All-Area Boys' Basketball Team.
Belmont opens the regular season Nov. 10 at Washington.
