Men's Golf Finishes Second at the Morehead State Fall Kickoff
PINEVILLE, Ky. – The Belmont Bruins men's golf team moved up two spots in Tuesday's final round to finish in second place at this week's Morehead State Fall Kickoff Tournament held Monday and Tuesday at Wasioto Winds Golf Course in Pineville, Kentucky.
Belmont posted a team score of 293 in Tuesday's final round to pass John A. Logan and Southern Illinois to finish in second place with a 54-hole score of 885. It's their best finish since winning the team title at the TSU Big Blue Intercollegiate in April of 2009. The tournament team champion was Murray State.
The Bruins finished with two golfers finishing among the top-15. Freshman Logan Hance shot a two-under par 70 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for sixth place at 216. Senior Dan Smith tied for 12th place after carding a three round score of 223.
Freshmen Ben Simpson and David Novinger both finished tied for 24th place with a score of 225. Novinger matched Logan Hance as he also posted a two-under par 70 in Tuesday's final round. Sophomore Elliott Wickenden tied for 48th place at 233, while freshman Max Markley, competing as an individual this week, tied for 29th place at 226.
Belmont now is off for 10 days before returning to action on September 24-26 at the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.
