FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for 10th place after the first round of the Mason Rudolph Championship held Friday at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tennessee.
The Bruins shot a team score of 293 in round one to put them in a tie for 10th place with Samford and Akron. They are nine shots behind tournament leader Georgia Southern.
Belmont has three players among the top-30. Freshman Carson Ward, in his first round as a collegian, is tied for 20th place after shooting a one-over par 72 on Friday. Junior Elliott Wickenden and sophomore Ben Simpson are tied for 27th place after each carded a 73 (+2) in round one. Other Belmont scores from day one included: freshman Ted Moon (T-47th, 75), and freshman Adam Sanders (T-68th, 79). Freshman Chris Thurman is playing as an individual and is tied for 68th place with a 79.
The second round of the tournament will begin Saturday morning at 8:00am. The Bruins will tee off from the 10th hole from 8:04-8:40am.
