Men's Golf Stands Ninth after First Round of the A-Sun Championship

BRASELTON, Ga. – The Belmont men's golf team stands in ninth place after the first round of the Atlantic Sun Championship held Monday at The Legends Course at Chateau Elan in Braselton, Georgia.

The Bruins shot a team score of 313 in round one to put them in ninth place.  Nationally ranked North Florida is the first round leader at 287. 

All five Belmont golfers are among the top-40.  Junior Elliott Wickenden, sophomore Ben Simpson, and freshman Chris Thurman are all tied for 33rd place after each posted a 78 in round one.  Freshman Ted Moon and freshman Carson Ward are tied for 37th place after each carded a 79 in Monday's round.

The second round of the championship will begin Tuesday morning at 7:00am CT.  Live scoring from the championship can be found through Golfstat.com or through AtlanticSun.org.
