PINEHURST, N.C. – The Belmont men's golf is tied for ninth place after day one of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate held Friday at the Pinehurst #8 Course in Pinehurst, North Carolina.
The Bruins posted a team scores of 312-312 on Friday to finish the day tied for ninth place with Morehead State at 624. Ball State has the team lead at 590, while Old Dominion is second at 591.
Freshman Nate Thomson leads the Belmont contingent as shot rounds of 74 and 76 for a total of 150 and in a tie for 14th place. He is seven shots behind individual leader, Matt Naumec of Boston College (143).
Redshirt junior Logan Matthews is tied for 49th place after posting a 36 hole score of 158 (78-80). Other Belmont scores from Friday included: freshman McCullough Pickens (T-54, 159), and junior Daniel Booker and redshirt freshman Win Temple (T-58, 160).
Sophomore Parker Buck is competing as an individual and is tied for 68th place after carding a 164.
The third and final round is set to begin Saturday morning at 7:00am CT.
