NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team is aiming for a conference title as they compete at the 2017 OVC Championship held this Monday-Wednesday on the Fighting Joe Course at the RTJ Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.
At last year's championship on the same Fighting Joe course, Belmont finished fifth and had five players earn top-25 finishes.
Entering this year's championship, the Bruins have five top-eight finishes in nine events, including a season-best fourth place showing at The Invitational at Savannah Harbor in February.
The squad is led by a pair of underclassmen. Freshman Nate Thomson leads the team with a 74.8 average. The Wisconsin native have four top-20 finishes, including a fifth place finish at the Trevecca Invitational last fall. Sophomore Daniel Booker ranks second on the team in scoring at 75.3 and has one top-20 finish, in Savannah, earlier this spring.
The 2027 OVC Championship will be held for the fourth straight year at the RTJ Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. The teams will play on the Fighting Joe Course, which will play at a par 72 and a length of 7,258 yards.
The first round of the championship will begin Monday morning at 8:00am. Belmont will tee off from 9:40-10:20am from the first tee with Eastern Kentucky and Murray State.
