Day One Struggle at Marshall

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for 12th place after day one of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational held Monday at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, West Virginia.

Belmont carded rounds of 301 and 283 on Monday to finish the day tied for 12th with Northern Kentucky at 584.  Dayton has the team lead at 562, while host Marshall is second at 563.

Three Bruins are among the top-15 after 36 holes.  Senior Logan Matthews and freshman Jack Uselton are each tied for 10th place a 141.  Matthews, competing as an individual, posted rounds of 74 and 67, while Uselton shot rounds of 71 and 70.

Junior Daniel Booker carded rounds of 73 and 69 to finish the day in a tie for 15th place at 142.

Other Belmont scores from day one included: sophomore McCullough Pickens (T-32, 145) and sophomore Win Temple (T-86, 159).

Sophomore Nate Thomson withdrew after round one due to an injury.

The third and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 7:30am.
