Former Bruin Soccer Standout J.P. Rodrigues Re-Signs with Miami FC
MIAMI, FLA. - - Former Belmont men's soccer standout J.P. Rodrigues has signed a professional contract with Miami FC of the United States Soccer Federation (USSF) Division II.
Rodrigues, who played in 51 games and had one goal in over 4,500 minutes of play during the 2006 and 2007 seasons with the club, was selected No. 1 overall in the 2006 USL Entry Draft by Miami FC.
Rodrigues has nine caps for the Guyana national team and is expected to contribute immediately for their Blues.
One of the all-time great Bruin players, Rodrigues was a two-time NSCAA/adidas All-South Region Team honoree (2004, 2005) and the 2005 Atlantic Sun Conference Defender of the Year.
He also enjoyed professional stops in Orlando and Milwaukee.
Miami FC will compete in the 12-member USSF Division II league in 2010. The USSF Division II league comprises of six teams previously in USL Division I and six teams in the NASL.
The USSF, the official governing body of soccer in the United States, also oversees Major League Soccer and the U.S. National Team.
