Manning and Tarr Earn A-Sun Weekly Honors

MACON, Ga. – After a 1-0-1 conference-opening weekend, which included a 3-1 victory over #22 ETSU, a pair of Belmont men's soccer players were honored with weekly awards by the Atlantic Sun Conference on Monday.

Junior Brandon Tarr (Knoxville, Tenn.) was named A-Sun Player of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in his career.  Junior Lou Manning (Southlake, Texas) earned A-Sun Defensive Player of the Week accolades for the first time in his career.

Tarr scored the tying and game-winning goals as Belmont topped #22 ETSU by a score of 3-1 on Thursday evening.  It was the Bruins first win over a ranked opponent since November 2, 2007.  The forward's two goals were the 21st and 22nd of his career, tying him with Fernando Castellanos for the most ever in a BU player's career.  Tarr leads the league with seven goals and 15 total points.

Manning tallied 14 saves over the weekend, allowing only one goal in the pair of games.  The junior goalkeeper recorded his second shutout of the season, tallying a season-best nine stops in a 0-0 double overtime road draw against USC Upstate on Sunday.  Manning leads the conference with 59 saves on the season, and has upped his career save mark to 122.

Tarr, Manning, and the rest of the Belmont squad will play only one contest this week, as the Bruins head down the boulevard to take on Lipscomb this Sunday at 7:00 p.m.
