NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team begins their quest for a conference as they open play at this week's OVC Tennis Championship in Paducah, Kentucky.
Belmont (7-14, 5-4) is competing in their first conference tournament since the 2009-10 season. They qualified for the postseason after winning five of their last eight matches.
The Bruins are led by a pair of seniors. Henrique Norbiato is tied for the team lead in singles win with 14 and leads the team with a 6-3 conference mark. Fellow senior Fernando Mussolini has also posted 14 singles wins and has won six of his last nine matches.
This year's championship will be held this Friday-Sunday at the Heflin Tennis Center in Paducah, Kentucky. The first round of the tournament will begin Friday afternoon. The Bruins, seeded #5, plays #4 seed Jacksonville State starting at 2:00pm. The winner of that match will face #1 seed and regular season champion Tennessee Tech in a semifinal match on Saturday at 2:00pm. The championship match is set for Sunday at 2:00pm.
