Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson Falls Short at the Great Britain Olympic Trials
BIRMINGHAM, England – Belmont men's track and field athlete Marcus Bridger-Wilkinson fell short in his attempt to make the Great Britain Olympic Track and Field team as the 2012 Aviva Olympic Trials for Great Britain were held this past weekend in Birmingham, England.
In his 1500 meters heat, the native of Newberry, England fell short of qualifying for the event finals as finished tied for 13th place with a time of 3:57.08. In each heat, the top-two finishers along with the next four fastest times advance to the event finals.
His appearance in the Olympic Trials wraps up a successful month for the rising junior. During late May, Marcus competed in his first NCAA Regional Meet and then just last week, he finished third in the 1500 meters at the England Athletics Aviva U23 and U20 Championships & World Trials.
