BOWLING GREEN, KY – The Belmont University men's track and field team rounded out competition at the Hilltopper Relays on Saturday.
The Bruins had athletes compete in both the discus and the Javelin at Western Kentucky.
Belmont was led by a gold medal finish by junior Stuart Landis (Victor, Mont.) in the javelin with a mark of 53.77 meters.
The Bruins boasted three top ten finishes in the discus. Sophomore Corey Claiborne (Alpharetta, Ga.) recorded a throw of 43.64 meters and senior Walter Burn (Nashville, Tenn.) boasted a throw of 42.89 meters. Sophomore Stephen Gibson (Tuscola, Ill.) recorded a personal record in the event with a throw of 42.42 meters.
"It was awesome to see Karly take 6 big throws and feel good about them. She's about 10 months post-op from her Tommy John's surgery and she got over a big mental hurdle today. Stuart had consistent throws in the men's javelin, and his rhythm is coming together really well," said Assistant Coach Joe Frye.
The Bruins will be back in action next weekend at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Austin Peay Governors Invitational.
