Lindy La Rocque (LA ROCK) enters her second season as an assistant coach for the Belmont University women’s basketball team in 2016-17.

In her first season on staff La Rocque specialized in the development of Belmont's guards while contributing in scouting and recruiting. La Rocque also organized and administered all of the summer camps for Belmont women's basketball.

La Rocque joins the Bruins’ staff after spending the last two years as a graduate assistant at the University of Oklahoma under the tutelage of coach Sherri Coale.  During her time with the Sooners, she assisted with recruiting, social media, video, team on-campus activities as well as the day-to-day operations of the women's basketball program.

"We are thrilled to have Lindy join our family.  She brings a great passion for the game and a drive for excellence that is contagious," said Belmont Head Coach Cameron Newbauer.  "Anytime you can make an addition to your staff of someone who has been mentored by two of the best coaches in our game, you can't help but be excited. She will be an asset on and off the court as she truly embodies what our program and university stands for here at Belmont."

La Rocque starred at Stanford University from 2009-12, appearing in four Women's Final Fours. She played in 138 career games as a guard, helping the team compile a 137-12 record during the span.  She earned 43 starts under legendary Hall of Fame coach Tara VanDerveer.

"It sounds cliché, but from the moment I met Coach Cam, I felt a special connection to what he is trying to accomplish here at Belmont.  Belmont's academic standards and Christian values line up perfectly with the priorities I have set in my life," said La Rocque.

"I am so thrilled and honored that Coach Cam wants me to be a part of this staff.  I think I can bring the same high-energy that he and the staff demonstrates on and off the court.  I am grateful for this opportunity and am looking forward to diving into this program and getting started.  I would like to thank Coach Newbauer and Mr. Strickland for welcoming me into the Belmont family."

Basketball runs in the Las Vegas native's blood.  Lindy is the daughter of Al and Beverly La Rocque.  Her father played under legendary coach Lute Olsen at Long Beach City College, leading the team to state championships before finishing his career at Cal Poly Pomona.  He is a Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association (NIAA) Hall of Famer after a 34-year career in the Clark County School District. Her sister Ally, holds a position with the Virginia Tech football team where she serves as a recruiting assistant. Ally’s fiancé Ryan Connolly is an assistant coach for the Hokie baseball team, and the two are set to be married in August of 2017.

La Rocque earned her Bachelors of Science in Science, Technology, and Society from Stanford in 2012 and in 2015 completed her Master's in Education- Intercollegiate Athletic Administration at the University of Oklahoma.
