Women's Golf Finishes 8th at the A-Sun Championship

DeLAND, Fla. – The Belmont women's golf team finished in eighth place at the Atlantic Sun Conference Championship held this week at Victoria Hills Country Club in DeLand, Florida.

In Wednesday's final round, Belmont posted a team score of 316.  They finished the tournament in eighth place with a 54-hole mark of 946.  They finished one shot behind seventh place Jacksonville.  Stetson won the team title with a score of 894.

Two Bruins are among the top-30.  Senior Laura Dyson was the team's top finisher as she shot a 77 on Wednesday to finish in a tie for 18th place with a score of 233.  Junior Kelly Maguigan also posted a 77 in the final round to finish two shots back in a tie for 21st place at 235.  Other Belmont scores from the tournament included:  Jennifer Newman (T-31st, 239) and Megan Murphy (39th, 245).  Janet Steen had to withdraw during Wednesday's final round due to an injury.  Stetson's Alex Buelow won the individual title with a score of 216.

This tournament ends the season for the women's golf team.  In ten events this year, the Bruins posted six top-five finishes, with season-best third place finish coming at the Belmont Invitational last week.
