Incoming Freshman Evin Edens Wins Nashville's 2011 Women's Municipal Amateur Championship
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Evin Edens, an incoming freshman on the Belmont women's golf team, won the 2011 James H. Fyke Municipal Amateur Women Championship held this past weekend at the McCabe and Harpeth Hills Golf Courses in Nashville.
Edens, a Mt. Juliet, Tennessee native, finished with a 36-hiole score of 143 to win her first Women's Municipal Amateur title. She carded a 68 on Saturday at McCabe and then posted a 75 on Sunday at Harpeth Hills to clinch the championship. She finished three shots ahead of second place finisher Janice Sauter and five shots ahead of third place finisher Carol Summer.
Morgan McQuary, a transfer from Mississippi State who will also play for the Bruins this season, finished in a tie for sixth place with a score of 154 (76-78).
Edens becomes the second Belmont women's golfer to win the Women's Municipal Amateur title. Former Bruin Esther Moon won the event in 2005.
