Steen Named Atlantic Sun Women's Golfer of the Week

MACON, Ga. – Junior Janet Steen was named Atlantic Sun Women's Golfer of the Week as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.

Steen, a Hendersonville, Tennessee native, tied for sixth place at this week's UAB Fall Beach Blast after carding a 36-hole score of 156.  She posted rounds of 77 and 79 to post her third straight top-10 finish.  She also helped her team finish in fourth place with a team score of 644.   For the season, she leads the team in scoring average at 75.7.

A two-time Academic All-Conference performer, Steen is a Biology major.  This was her first Golfer of the Week award and she is the second Bruin to be honored with the award this fall (Kelly Maguigan – September 14, 2011).

The women's golf team has wrapped up its 2011 fall season.  They will return to action on February 19-20, 2012 at the Birmingham-Southern Invitational in Birmingham, Alabama.
