NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- After a welcome week off of games for finals, Belmont will travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., for the non-conference finale against Southeast Missouri State at 5 p.m. this evening.
The Bruins swept SEMO last season when the two teams met in Nashville, taking a narrow 5-4 lead in the series. The teams will become much more familiar with one another beginning next year, when Belmont joins SEMO in the Ohio Valley Conference. The Bruins are coming off a 2-2 weekend in A-Sun play, sweeping Mercer and falling to Kennesaw State. Wednesday's doubleheaders will be a warm-up for the final two conference match ups this weekend, as Belmont hosts East Tennessee State and USC Upstate. The Bruins are still mathematically alive in the conference race and will look to stay alive through the weekend as they recognize their six seniors for Senior Day ceremonies. First things first, though, Belmont will look to top their 2011 win total tonight against SEMO. In 2011, the Bruins went 11-38 and are currently sitting at 11-32.
