Women's Tennis Adds Two Signees for the 2013-14 Season
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis program announces that Jenna Krakau and Abbie Mather have signed National Letters of Intent and will compete for the Bruins beginning in the fall of 2013.
Jenna Krakau, currently ranked #13 in the USTA Georgia Girls 18 rankings and #96 in the Southeast by Tennisrecruiting.net, is a Roswell, Georgia native who played for Blessed Trinity High School. While at Blessed Trinity, she was a four-year starter and a member of three Georgia Class AA State Championship Teams. In addition, Krakau has had a highly successful junior career. Last fall, she won two USTA junior events, the Bainbridge L3 Tournament and the Georgia L2 Tournament.
Abbie Mather is from Louisville, Kentucky who prepped at Assumption High School. She is currently ranked #2 in Kentucky and #84 in the Southeast by Tennisrecruiting.net. During her prep career, she reached the round of 16 at the KHSAA State Tournament during her freshman and sophomore seasons and then as a junior, she earned All-State honors after advancing to the state quarterfinals. In addition, Mather was named to the All-Tournament team at the prestigious DecoTurf High School Team Championship in 2012.
"Jenna and Abbie are great additions to our program," said Mark Srouji, Belmont head coach. "I think they will both make an immediate impact on our team next fall."
During the 2013 spring season, the women's tennis team posted an overall record of 10-10 and reached the semifinals of the OVC Tournament.
