NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Volleyball seniors Arianna Person (Lenexa, Kan.) and Emma Price (Fort Mill, S.C.) earned two of the final regular season Player of the Week nods, as announced by the league on Monday. Person was tabbed as the conference's top Offensive Player while Price shared Setter of the week honors.
This marks the second time this season Person has garnered a Player of the Week nod and the first time Price has been honored this season.
Person, who recently became Belmont's all-time leader in kills, continued to grow her career tally, helping the Bruins sweep their final two regular season matches by outpacing all attackers in both contests last week while averaging a double-double. Against Jacksonville State, the Lenexa, Kan., native finished with a double-double, contributing 24 kills and 10 digs. Person also had five block assists and a pair of service aces in the match. The next day against in-state rival Tennessee Tech, she notched 20 kills compared to the TTU team total of 35. She also recorded 11 digs and a career-high two solo blocks in the win.
Person continues to shine in national statistics, with rankings in a whopping six categories. She stands 63rd in total kills, 69th in kills per set, 118th in total attacks, 74th in points, 81st in points per set and 111th in attacks per set.
Price's individual effort outpaced both teams in Belmont's final regular season matches. Against Jacksonville State, she logged 45 assists to the Gamecocks' team total of 41. She also added a pair of kills and eight digs. The following day, Price eclipsed the 50 assist mark for the second time this season, finishing with 52 comparted to Tennessee Tech's total of 33. She also added three kills, a service ace and five digs.
Person, Price and the rest of the Volleyball team return to action on Thursday, November 16 in the First Round of the OVC Tournament. The fifth-seeded Bruins take on No. 4 Eastern Kentucky beginning at 4:30 p.m. Live stats will be available and the contest can be seen live on the OVC Digital Network.
