MACON, Ga. – The Belmont women's cross country team was picked to finish fourth in the 2011 Atlantic Sun Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.  Last year, the team placed fifth at the league championships.

The Bruins, who have won six conference titles over the past nine years, will look to return to the top of the conference for the first time since 2008.  Belmont returns a number of last year's top performers, including Nicole and Kimberly Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.), who finished eighth and 17th at the 2010 A-Sun Championships, respectively.

Seniors Katelyn Eberhardt (Mishawaka, Ind.) and Caitlin Standifer (Plano, Texas), as well as junior Courtney Bishop (Brentwood, Tenn.), give BU plenty of returning talent for the 2011 season.  The Bruins will host this year's league championship meet, set to be held on October 29 in Nashville, Tenn.

North Florida, last year's A-Sun Champion, was picked to repeat in 2011 with 98 points and eight first place votes.  They edged out Lipscomb's 92 points and two first place nods.  Jacksonville finished just ahead of Belmont, with 77 points to the Bruins'68, while USC Upstate rounded out the top five with 65 points.

The Belmont women's cross country team will open the season hosting the Belmont Opener on Friday, September 2.
