NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Senior women's basketball player Jenny Roy (Brentwood, Tenn.) and senior men's basketball player Kevin McClain (Jennings, Fla.) have been named Trane Belmont Student-Athletes of the Month for January.
Roy has been a mainstay for the women's basketball team this season. She is averaging 9.5 points and 7.45 rebounds per game and ranks in the top-10 in the OVC in seven statistical categories. She scored a career high 17 points twice during the month of December (Arkansas State, Clemson) and led the team in scoring in three of the team's five December games. For her efforts, she was named Player of the Week by the OVC and TSWA on December 24th.
McClain has been a key component to the men's basketball team's success this season. He is averaging 13.6 points, 3.9 assists, and 1.6 steals per game. He ranks among the top-10 in the OVC in five statistical categories. Against UCLA last month, he scored 21 points, including the game winner, while during the game at Purdue he posted a team-high 21 points. For his efforts against UCLA, he was named OVC Player of the Week on December 17.
