NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University Athletics unveiled a promotional video Wednesday, welcoming the 2019 NFL Draft to Nashville.
The video, featuring All-America basketball seniors Darby Maggard (Larwill, Ind.) and Dylan Windler (Indianapolis, Ind.), walks through a storyline of Maggard reflecting upon her historic college career, and how she drew inspiration from another luminescent, albeit undersized, signal-caller - Oklahoma Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Kyler Murray.
Maggard, who became the first player in NCAA Division I women's basketball history to record over 650 assists and 400 3-point field goals, compiled a 108-26 record in leading Belmont to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and national Top 25 ranking. The point guard was a two-time Ann Meyers Drysdale Award finalist.
Windler, currently training to become Belmont's first NBA Draft selection since 1972, led Belmont to March Madness glory this past season. The 6-8 guard/forward was the only player in college basketball to average at least 20.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game, and became just the fourth OVC player since 1971 to post 1,600 points and 1,000 rebounds.
