NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Head Coach Dave Jarvis announced the addition of Ray Eastman to the Belmont Bruins incoming class for 2012-13 on Monday afternoon. Eastman, a native of Oro Valley, Arizona, will add depth to the Belmont infield next season.
"We are excited to have Ray join our program," Jarvis said. "We had the opportunity to see Ray in one of our camps, and we came away impressed by his athletic abilities. He is a right-handed hitting infielder, who we feel will be a great fit for our program. He is an excellent student, and will be a great complement to our outstanding academic tradition."
MVP of his Salpointe Catholic High School squad as a senior in 2012, Eastman was selected to play in the Arizona All-Star Game, was named First Team All-Southern Arizona, finished the season on a 30 game hitting streak, and led the Lancers to a fourth place finish in the state tournament.
Before the final game of the season, Eastman was averaging .461 on the year. The infielder had recorded 29 runs, 32 RBI, 13 doubles, four triples, and a home run. He will be a welcomed addition to the Belmont Bruins, which recently finished another stellar season with a second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
