Welcoming New Bruins

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University baseball is excited to announce the addition of seven new Bruins to the 2020 roster. The Bruins will add five pitchers and two position players with the incoming group. 

Carter Park - Pitcher - Memphis, Tenn.
Carter Park will join Belmont's pitching staff as a right-handed hurler. He currently plays at St. George's High School and for the Memphis Tigers. Park will be a welcomed addition to the team, coming in as the 27th ranked right-handed thrower in the state of Tennessee. 

Drew Lowry - Infielder/Pitcher - Signal Mountain, Tenn.
Drew Lowry is an infielder/pitcher hailing from Signal Mountain, Tenn. He has prepped at Signal Mountain High School and has played travel ball with the Tennessee Twisters. Lowry is sure to make immediate contributions and is currently ranked the sixth-best shortstop in the state. The five-year varisty baseball letterwinnerwas a three time All-District honoree and was awarded 2017 Silver Slugger and 2018 Golden Glove honors. 

Jalen Borders - Pitcher - Alexandria, Ala.
Hailing from Alexandria, Alabama, Jalen Borders will join the Belmont roster as a left-handed hurler. The pitcher is ranked the fifth best left hander in the state of Alabama. Borders was named to the First Team All-County team last year and earned County Tournament Defensive MVP, East Cobb Inivational All-Tournament Team and WWBA All-Tournament Team honors. He was also named a Preseason underclass All-American. 

Lane Lamberth - Pitcher/Outfielder - Jackson, Tenn.
Right handed pitcher/outfielder, Lane Lamberth will also join the Belmont roster ahead of the 2020 season. Hailing from Jackson, Tennessee, he was named to the All-Region and All-District teams while earning All-State second team honors. Last season, he was also named District Pitcher of the Year. 

Andy Bean - Pitcher - Fisherville, Tenn.
Andy Bean, left handed pitcher from Fisherville, Tennessee will also join Belmont's pitching staff. The ninth ranked lefty in the state of Tennessee was named to the 2017 and 2018 WWBA National Championship All-Tournament Team. He was also named to the 2017 and 2018 D2-A All-Tournament teams after his performances in the region tournament. 

Brodey Heaton - First Base - Newburgh, Ind.
Hailing from Newburgh, Indiana, Brodey Heaton is the top first baseman in the state. The three sport athlete was twice a preseason Perfect Game All-American Honorable Mention. He earned second-team All-Conference honors as a sophomore and was part of a team that were Secional and Regional Champions last season. 

Vinny Abbatiello - Infielder - Cincinnati, Ohio

Belmont will also welcome Vinny Abbatiello to the roster, the 10th ranked shortstop in the state of Ohio. He was a three-year varsity started in high school where he was part of the 2016 State Runner-Up squad. He was honored with the underclassman award his sophomore year and received academic honors.
