NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Jackson Campbell (Russellville, Ky.) has been named OVC Co-Player of the Week the league announced Monday. The award comes after an impressive week offensively and defensively for Campbell.
Campbell smashed a pair of home runs, scored five runs, drove in six and threw out three base runners in four games last week. The sophomore's two home runs at Southern Illinois were the first home runs of the season for Belmont. He also threw out a couple base runners in the game against the Salukis. In the weekend series against Bowling Green, Campbell had a standup triple and a bases-clearing double as the Bruins won two of three against the Falcons. For the week he had a .867 slugging percentage while making 39 putouts with six assists behind the plate.
This marks the first time Campbell has earned OVC Player of the Week honors.
