NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Baseball returns to the diamond Tuesday, March 12 for this year's first round of the Battle of the Boulevard against nearby rival, Lipscomb. First pitch at E.S. Rose Park is slated for 4:00 p.m. CT.
Belmont and Lipscomb are no strangers. The Bruins lead the all-time series 30-18 dating back to the first season in program history, 1954. Last season the teams met twice, and Belmont won both matchups. Last year's matchup at E.S. Rose Park ended in dramatic fashion as the squad's went into a decisive ninth inning. Lipscomb scored three runs in the top of the ninth to tie things up and sophomore Jackson Campbell (Russellville, Ky.) delivered a walk off double to secure the Belmont victory.
SCOUTING THE BISONS
Lipscomb is coming off a series win over Hartford last weekend. The Bisons defeated Hartford twice winning 7-0 on Friday and 9-8 on Sunday. The team is hitting .283 as a squad and has an ERA of 5.17.
LAST TIME OUT
Belmont is riding a recent surge of momentum, picking up three wins last week. The Bruins defeated MTSU on Wednesday and picked up a series victory on the opening weekend of conference play. Belmont won two of three against preseason Ohio Valley Conference favorite Morehead State last weekend.
