NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University Baseball concludes its 2019 series against Southern Illinois University Tuesday evening in Carbondale, Illinois. First pitch for the game at Saluki Stadium is slated for 5:00 p.m. CT.
LAST TIME OUT
Belmont is coming off another series victory last weekend, this time over Ohio Valley Conference foe SIUE. The two victories this weekend improved BU to 7-2 in OVC play and 12-11 on the season. Southern Illinois is also coming off a non-conference series victory over Morehead State, fellow OVC member, last weekend. The Salukis took two of three games against Morehead State, including an 11-inning thriller on Sunday.
Sophomore Jackson Campbell (Russellville, Ky.) notched his team-high fourth home run of the season this weekend. Campbell has four of BU's five home runs of the season, with all of his long balls coming at E.S. Rose Park.
Belmont will look to get another midweek victory on Tuesday. The Bruins' have struggled so far in midweek matchups, currently sitting 1-3 in those midweek matchups. Belmont's only midweek win came over MTSU on March 6thin Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Belmont and SIU are even 5-5 in the overall series. The two teams met twice last season and the Salukis swept Belmont in the home and home series. The two squads have met once already this season at E.S. Rose Park in Nashville, Tenn. SIU defeated Belmont 13-9 in that matchup.
