NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - On the heels of another championship season, Belmont University men's basketball awaits its 2016 postseason fate Sunday evening.

The Bruins (20-11), after claiming an eighth conference regular season championship in the last 11 seasons, are likely headed to the Postseason NIT.

Moreover, Belmont has won 20 or more games 10 of the last 11 years.

In 2014, Belmont parlayed a No. 5 seed in the Postseason NIT to victories over Horizon League champion Green Bay and Northeast Conference champion Robert Morris. The Bruins were within an eyelash of reaching the NIT semifinal round and earning a trip to famed Madison Square Garden, but lost in the final seconds at Clemson.

It has been another banner year for Belmont - literally - as the OVC regular season crown becomes the 15th conference championship (seven tournament, eight regular season) for Belmont since 2006. Only Kansas and Gonzaga have tallied more over that span.

In addition, junior forward Evan Bradds (Jamestown, Ohio) was named USBWA All-District Tuesday, joining players from the ACC and SEC on the prestigious 10-member team.

Bradds, the 2016 OVC Player of the Year, leads the nation in field goal percentage (.720).

The 2016 Postseason NIT Selection Show will air Sunday, March 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT on ESPNU and the WatchESPN app.
