NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Former Belmont University men's basketball All-American Ian Clark ('13) played a lead role in Game 3 of the NBA Playoff series between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets.
With Golden State guard and reigning Most Valuable Player Stephen Curry out due to injury, Clark saw an increased role and took full advantage.
Clark scored nine points in the final 5:33 of regulation, including a teardrop with 1:24 remaining that gave the Warriors a 94-93 lead.
Then trailing by one point in the final seconds, Clark again delivered, scoring a transition layin with 10 seconds left to give Golden State a one-point lead.
James Harden would score with under three seconds remaining to give Houston a one-point victory.
But Clark's impact was undeniable. The Memphis, Tennessee native provided 11 points and five assists in 21 minutes of action, earning praise from Warriors head coach Steve Kerr following the game.
Golden State and Houston will play Game 4 Sunday.
