Belmont-WKU Game Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Tuesday at Western Kentucky.

Belmont defeated Pepperdine, 79-62, Saturday. Senior Amanze Egekeze (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) scored a team-high 21 points for the Bruins. Egekeze was named OVC Player of the Week Monday.

Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky and is a 1993 WKU graduate.

Former Belmont All-American Ian Clark ('13) and former WKU PF Jeremy Evans were teammates for two seasons on the Utah Jazz (2013-15).

Belmont Director of Basketball Operations Tyler Holloway played for coach Billy Kennedy at Murray State. Western Kentucky head coach Rick Stansbury worked on Kennedy's staff at Texas A&M from 2014-16.

Former Belmont All-American Alex Renfroe ('09) started his professional playing career for VEF Riga in Latvia, the same hometown as former WKU forward Aleksej Rostov.

Belmont's 52-50 victory at Western Kentucky Dec. 1, 1964 is regarded as one of the Bruin program's biggest victories. The Hilltoppers would finish the next two seasons ranked Top 10 nationally.

This marks the 10th meeting between Belmont and Western Kentucky, and fourth year of a four-year series. Austin Luke, Amanze Egekeze and Justin Johnson (WKU) are slated to play in the Belmont-Western Kentucky game all four seasons.

Belmont won, 90-69, the last season at the Curb Event Center.
