NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Thursday vs. Tennessee Tech.
Belmont defeated UT Martin, 65-58, Dec. 30. Senior Austin Luke (Rowlett, Texas) tallied his third career double-double with 19 points and 10 assists for the Bruins.
Luke, the nation's leading returning assist man from a year ago, currently ranks eighth nationally in assist rate and ninth in assists per game.
Luke had 11 assists last season vs. Tennessee Tech, one shy of the Curb Event Center single-game record and two shy of his career high.
Senior Amanze Egekeze (Lake in the Hills, Ill.) has continued his impressive play this season; after 21 points to open conference play at Southeast Missouri, Egekeze scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds at the Skyhawks. Meanwhile, junior Dylan Windler (Indianpolis, Ind.) has provided remarkable production on both ends of the floor, ranking among league leaders in nine statistical categories.
Belmont head coach Rick Byrd served as an assistant coach at Tennessee Tech from 1980-83.
This marks the 18th meeting between Belmont and Tennessee Tech, 11th in OVC play. Belmont has won seven of the last 10 meetings, including 82-70 last season at the Curb Event Center.
