NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's basketball returns to game action Wednesday vs. Western Kentucky.

The Bruins defeated 11-time National Champion UCLA, 74-72, Dec. 15. Senior Kevin McClain (Jennings, Fla.) had a game-high 20 points, six rebounds, six assists and two steals, and hit the game-winning shot with 2.3 seconds remaining. McClain was named OVC Player of the Week Monday.
 
Senior Dylan Windler (Indianapolis, Ind.) posted his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and 15 rebounds; his previous three double-doubles this season all came in 30-plus point games. 
 
Junior Michael Benkert (Greenwood, Ind.) continued his fine form with eight points at UCLA. Benkert led a Belmont defensive effort that held the host Bruins to 8-for-23 field goal shooting in the second half.
 
Belmont (8-1) were among 'others receiving votes' this week in the Associated Press and USA Today Sports Coaches' Top 25 polls. The Bruin program has now received national Top 25 poll votes eight of the last nine years.
 
Belmont annually ranks among the NCAA leaders in assists per game, and this season is no exception, currently ranking third nationally (20.9).
 
Voice of the Bruins Kevin Ingram is a native of Bowling Green, Kentucky and is a 1993 WKU graduate.
 
Belmont and Western Kentucky combined to have four players on the 2017-18 NABC All-District teams (Belmont: Austin Luke, Amanze Egekeze; Western Kentucky: Justin Johnson, Darius Thompson).
 
Belmont's 52-50 victory at Western Kentucky Dec. 1, 1964 is regarded as one of the Bruin program's biggest victories. The Hilltoppers would finish the next two seasons ranked Top 10 nationally.
 
Former Belmont All-American Ian Clark ('13) and former Western Kentucky forward Jeremy Evans were teammates for two seasons on the Utah Jazz (2013-15).
 
This marks the 11th meeting between Belmont and Western Kentucky, and fifth consecutive year of the series. The Bruins won, 75-72, last season in Bowling Green (12/19/17).

Belmont University men's basketball has earned postseason invitations 12 of the last 13 seasons, including seven automatic berths to the NCAA Tournament. The Bruins have won 16 conference championships since 2006 - third-most nationally over that span (Gonzaga, Kansas).
