HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – After day one of their 2018-19 season, the Belmont men's golf team stands in a tie for 10th place after round one of the Joe Feaganes Marshall Invitational held Monday at Guyan Golf and Country Club in Huntington, West Virginia.
Before play began on Monday, tournament officials announced that the tournament would be shortened to 36 holes due to wet course conditions. So after a morning of rain, the first round began early Monday afternoon.
The Bruins posted a first round team score of 286 to finish in a tie for 10th place with Wright State. Wichita State has the team lead at 267, while VCU is second at 277.
Two Belmont golfers rank among the top-25 after 18 holes. Senior Daniel Booker shot a three under par 68 on Monday to finish the day in a tie for seventh place. He carded five birdies and two bogeys in his round. Booker is four shots behind the individual leader, Adrien Michellou of Wichita State.
Fellow senior Noah Trenkler, in his first competitive round in nearly two years due to injury, posted a one under par 70 to finish in a tie for 21stplace.
