NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's golf team is tied for sixth after the first round of the Ryman Hospitality Intercollegiate held Monday at Nashville's Richland Country Club.
After morning rain delayed the start of the tournament, officials decided to shorten it to a 36 hole event. Once on the course, the Bruins posted a first round score of 295 to finish the day tied for sixth place with fellow OVC member Austin Peay. They are 10 shots behind tournament leader Samford (285) and nine shots back of second place Bradley (286).
Leading the way for Belmont is sophomore Jack Uselton. The Tullahoma, Tennessee native carded a two-over par 73 to finish the day in a tie for 20th place. He is five shots behind the individual leader, Charles Jahn of Bradley (68).
Three Bruins are tied for 30th place. Seniors Daniel Booker and Noah Trenkler along with sophomore Bogle LaRue each shot a three-over par 74 in round one. Sophomore Evan Davis is tied for 53rd place at 77.
Three Belmont golfers are competing as individuals. Freshman Coleman Jones is tied for seventh place after posting a 71. Senior Parker Buck is tied for 82nd at 83, while junior Brendan Lewis is in 87th place at 86.
The second and final round will begin Tuesday morning at 8:00am. Belmont's golfers will tee off hole #1 between 8:45-9:21am. BU's individuals will tee off at 8:00am and 9:30qm off the 10th hole.
