NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont men's tennis team lost to South Alabama 4-3 Saturday afternoon at Centennial Sportsplex.
The Bruins gained a 1-0 lead after winning doubles matches at both the No. 1 and No. 3 sets. The No. 32 team of Hendrik Inno and Marko Ilic defeated the No. 11 team of Loic Cloes and Clement Marzol 7-5 at the one spot. Grant Kelly and Vincent Sterkens defeated Sam Serrano Santiago Di Loreto 6-2 at the No. 3 spot.
In singles, the Jaguars came back and posted wins at four of the first five matches to clinch the victory over Belmont. The Bruins did pick up two wins at positions three and six. Senior Joan Valy defeated Loic Cloes 6-4, 6-2 at number three, while Jake Briggs won, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1, against Louis Delcour at number six.
The men's tennis team is back in action next Sunday, February 24 at Kennesaw State.
