NASHVILLE, Tenn. - - Belmont University men's tennis opens play in the 2019 OVC Tennis Championship Saturday.
The Bruins, fresh off a share of their third regular season conference championship, will face Jacksonville State Saturday at 2 p.m. CT from Hadley Park in Nashville.
Junior Hendrik Inno (Someru, Estonia) was named OVC Player of the Year for a second consecutive year Thursday. The lefty has posted a team-high 20 singles' victories and won eight of his last nine matches at top singles. He became the first Belmont player ever to represent the school at the ITA Oracle Masters.
Sophomore Marko Ilic (Zagreb, Croatia) was also named All-OVC First Team for a second straight season. He has registered 17 singles' victories to date, including 13 in straight sets.
Inno and Ilic enter the week No. 35 nationally in doubles.
Belmont has reached the OVC final three times (2013, 2014, 2018), including last-year's dramatic final with Tennessee Tech that came down to the final singles' match.
