BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team is picked sixth in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
In a vote by the league's head coaches, two-time defending champion Murray State was picked to win the conference championship. They finished with 60 points and five first place votes. The Racers edged out second place Eastern Kentucky (four first place votes -- 58 points). Jacksonville State was selected third with 52 points.
Austin Peay was picked fourth (43), followed by Tennessee Tech (34), Belmont (31), Morehead State (23), Eastern Illinois (14), and Tennessee State (9).
During the 2018 fall season, the women's golf team posted three top-five finishes in four events, including third place showings at the MSU/Greenbrier Invitational and the Town and Country Invitational. Senior Emma Kate Liu leads BU with a 76.0 scoring average and three top-10s.
The women's golf team begins their 2019 spring season on March 11-12 at the WKU/Lake Jovita Invitational in Dade City, Florida.
