OVC Championship Preview

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Belmont women's golf team aims for a conference title as they compete at the OVC Championship held this Monday-Wednesday on the Schoolmaster Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

At last year's championship at The Shoals, Belmont finished in sixth place as a team and had two golfers finish among the top-25, Emma Kate Liu and Maribeth Peevy

Coming into this week's event, the Bruins have had four top-seven finishes this season, including two third place showings.  They are led by their lone senior, Liu.  The Dallas, Texas native has been hampered by illness most of the spring, but continues to lead the team in scoring with a 76.7 average and three top-10 finishes.

In addition, freshmen Katelyn Dunstan and Cameron Fish have had solid first years as Bruins.  Dunstan ranks second on the team in scoring and was the team's top finisher in three tournaments this spring, while Fish is third in scoring and has two top-20 finishes this season.

This year's OVC Championship is a three-day, 54-hole event, with 18 holes contested each day.  It will be held for the second straight year on the Schoolmaster Course at the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail at The Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.  The course will play to a par 72 and a length of 6,025 yards.

The first round of the championship will begin Monday morning at 8:00am CT.  Belmont's five golfers will tee off between 8:50-9:30am from the first hole.  Live scoring from the championship can be found at BelmontBruins.com or OVCSports.com.
