Rebekah Wilson Koon

Rebekah Wilson Koon played golf for Belmont from 2003-2008.  During her time as a Bruin, Rebekah helped the program win its first three team titles, was her team's low finisher nine times, and became one of only two Belmont women's golfers to earn multiple top-10 finishes at a conference championship.  In addition, she currently ranks in top-10 in school history career top-10 finishes.

Just recently, Rebekah spoke to BelmontBruins.com about her time at as a Belmont golfer and her present role as mother, wife, and dentist in the Nashville area.

Why did you choose Belmont?

I grew up outside of Nashville so I liked the proximity to home as well as all that Belmont had to offer both academically and athletically.

What is your fondest athletic memory at Belmont?

The relationships I developed over the years with my teammates and athletic staff. Still have remained close friends with several of my former teammates.

Who had the biggest influence on you during your athletic career at Belmont?

My coach and teammates. Challenged me both on and off the golf course. Helping me become a better golfer, friend and student.

What is the most valuable thing you gained or learned from your time at Belmont?

My education and the support the athletic department offered so that I could excel in the classroom. All of which helped shape and mold me as a student so that I could get accepted and make it through dental school.

What advice would you give to current members of the golf team?

To enjoy life as a student athlete. Not forgetting to enjoy the in between. Because you can play golf for pleasure or competition for the rest of your life. But you only get to be a college student once. And our coach helped to facilitate this for us. Making sure that we got to enjoy college.

Who was your favorite professor and why?

Mrs. Keely White. I would always get excited when I saw that she teaching a class that I needed to take. I loved anything that pertained to math and she did such a great job at explaining it that helped me excel.

Where do you live now?
