LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Belmont sophomore women's golfer Katelyn Dunstan has been named the Arkansas Women's Player of the Year by the Arkansas State Golf Association (ASGA) as the organization announced their year-end awards on Wednesday.
Dunstan will receive her honor when the ASGA hosts its Hall of Fame and Awards Banquet on October 24 in Little Rock.
The Arkansas native had a highly successful summer. In mid-June, she finished third at the Arkansas Stroke Play Championship in Little Rock with rounds of 74 and 77. Then in July, she was runner-up at the Arkansas Match Play Championship in Maumelle, Arkansas, falling to Josie Robertson 2-up in the championship match.
During her freshman year at Belmont, Dunstan finished second on the team in scoring with a 77.3 average. She had four top-25 finishes, including a 10th place finish at the Spring Break Shootout last March. Katelyn also broke the school's 18-hole scoring record with a 67 in the first round of that event.
Dunstan and her Bruin teammates return to competition this Monday and Tuesday at the Morehead State/Greenbrier Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky.
