NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Senior goalkeeper Lily Herman and sophomore defender Rachel Vernon were tabbed to the OVC Weekly Awards, the conference announced on Tuesday.

Herman collected her third OVC Goalkeeper of the Week honor after coming up with nine saves in Belmont's last two games, having eight saves to force a double overtime shutout against Georgia on Thursday. In Thursday's game against Georgia, Herman recorded her 10th career shutout to move into fifth all-time in Belmont women's soccer history.

The Springboro, Ohio, native protected the Bruins' lead on Sunday and only allowed one goal, helping Belmont to a win over Evansville.

For Vernon, the honor marks the first time in her career where she was named OVC Defensive Player of the Week. Vernon scored her first goal of the season in Sunday's match against Evansville, helping the Bruins to a two-goal win. By winning a plethora of 50-50 balls, Vernon provided more chances for Belmont's offense and helped the Bruins score a season-high four goals in Sunday's game.

The Suwanee, Ga., drew the defensive assignment of holding down Georgia's top scorers and helped the Bruins record their first shutout of the season.

Belmont starts a five-game road stretch on Friday, traveling to Indianapolis to face IUPUI at 6 p.m.
