NASHVILLE, Tenn.- Senior Niki Clements has been tabbed OVC Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday.
Clements lifted the Bruins to two home wins over Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State this past weekend, scoring four of Belmont's five goals. The Perkasie, Pa., native collected a hat trick in Sunday's game against Jacksonville State, marking the first hat trick in program history since Sept. 18, 2009 when Lauren Paynter scored three goals against Alabama A&M.
Her three-goal game was the 11th hat trick in Belmont history, marking the first time that has happened in the 2010's era. Clements is the first player in Belmont women's soccer history to record a hat trick in an OVC game.
The honor marks the first time that a Belmont women's soccer player was named OVC Offensive Player of the Week since Oct. 10, 2017, when Belicia Mendiola claimed the award. Clements' performance also earned her national recognition, being named as one of the top performers in NCAA Soccer for the week by TopDrawerSoccer.
Clements and Belmont go on the road to face SIUE on Thursday at 7 p.m.
