Another Honor for Clements

Another Honor for Clements

NASHVILLE, Tenn.- The Tennessee Sports Writers Association announced Wednesday that senior Niki Clements was named Player of the Week

Clements is the second player in Belmont women's soccer history to earn the award, with Sydney Cason collecting the first on Aug. 31, 2017.

Clements lifted the Bruins to two home wins over Tennessee Tech and Jacksonville State this past weekend, scoring four of Belmont's five goals. The Perkasie, Pa., native collected a hat trick in Sunday's game against Jacksonville State, marking the first hat trick in program history since Sept. 18, 2009 when Lauren Paynter scored three goals against Alabama A&M.

Her three-goal game was the 11th hat trick in Belmont history, marking the first time that has happened in the 2010's era. Clements is the first player in Belmont women's soccer history to record a hat trick in an OVC game.

Clements earned OVC Offensive Player of the Week on Tuesday and also earned national recognition, being named as one of the top performances in NCAA Soccer for the week by TopDrawerSoccer

Clements and Belmont go on the road to face SIUE on Thursday at 7 p.m.
