NASHVILLE, Tenn. – A first career no-no helped lead to Belmont University Softball junior Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.) to her first Pitcher of the Week from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA), the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Burns, Tenn., native posted 19 strikeouts over 16 innings of work to finish with a 1.75 ERA and a 2-0 record at the Madeira Beach Invitational last week.
Lee picked up right where she left off one year ago and wasted little time dominating inside the circle. In her first win against Ball State, she went the distance, fanning nine batters as she earned her first career hitless shutout, the first for BU since 2017.
Lee tossed Belmont's 16-1 rout of Drexel, recording four strikeouts in another complete outing. Against Delaware, she posted her first save of the season, retiring six batters, as she helped close the narrow 5-4 win.
Lee and the rest of the Bruins return to action this weekend at the 16th annual Georgia Classic, hosted by the University of Georgia.
