NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Belmont University will return to the friendly confines of E.S. Rose Park for a final time during the regular season hosting a doubleheader on Thursday. The Bruins (30-19, 12-8 OVC) welcome OVC foe Eastern Kentucky (28-18, 14-6 OVC) for their season finale.
The Colonels are led at the plate by Sammi Miller, batting .395 with 58 hits, eight doubles, four triples, one homerun and 21 RBI. She is followed by Hannah Clark, who is batting .359 with 56 hits, 10 doubles, 13 homeruns and 51 RBI. Inside the circle, Mollie Paulick leads the team in ERA at 2.74 and has a team-high 11 wins and six saves with 117 fanned batters over 97.0 innings tossed. Samantha Reynoso has an 8-2 record with a 3.23 ERA over 86.2 innings thrown and 54 strikeouts.
BU stands at 30-19 overall and 12-8 in league games after sweeping a pair of OVC doubleheaders on the road to secure the team's second ever appearance in the conference tournament. Belmont has a whopping nine players batting over .300, led by senior Baylee Cook (Lewisburg, Tenn.), who is batting .400 with 64 hits, eight doubles, four triples, four homeruns and 37 RBI. Classmate Hayley Baker (Rockwall, Texas) follows, batting .364 with 55 hits, 16 doubles, six homeruns and 49 RBI. Senior Taylor Hargrove (Greenbrier, Tenn.) rounds out the team's hottest bats, hitting .355 with 11 hits, including one triple.
Inside the circle, the Bruin pitching corps is led by junior Brooklin Lee (Burns, Tenn.) and sophomore Alicia Veltri (Clarksville, Tenn.). Lee sports a 2.57 ERA after fanning 136 batters with four shutouts and a pair of saves for a 13-8 record. Veltri has 15 complete games under her belt with 135 strikeouts recorded over 140.1 innings tossed for a 14-8 mark with a 2.69 ERA.
