BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – The Belmont women's tennis team is picked to finish in sixth place in the Ohio Valley Conference Preseason Poll as announced by the conference office Friday.
In a vote by the league's head coaches, Austin Peay and Murray State were both picked to finish first with 58 points. Jacksonville State was slated third with 43 points, with Southeast Missouri in fourth (40).
Rounding out the poll was Eastern Illinois (35), Belmont (32), UT-Martin (25), SIUE (24), and Tennessee State (9).
The Bruins, who are one of the youngest teams in the league with eight freshman and sophomores, are 0-2 going into tonight's home opener with Martin Methodist. The match with the Redhawks is set for 6:00pm indoors at the Ensworth HS Tennis Center.
