Duble and Muldowney Earn Atlantic Sun Academic All-Conference Honors

MACON, Ga. – Belmont women's track and field senior Nicole Muldowney (Hoover, Ala.) and redshirt sophomore Jessica Duble (Lookout Mountain, Ga.) earned Academic All-Conference distinction, as announced by the Atlantic Sun on Friday.  It is a first time honor for Duble while Muldowney garnered the award in the fall for her performance during Cross Country season.


Duble competed in three outdoor meets, notching four top-35 finishes in several heavily contested fields during the outdoor season.  The Lookout Mountain, Ga., native finished 33rd (2:30.15) in a deep 800m field at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational. She also finished 24th in 1500m (4:54.38) at same meet.  Duble ran a 4:54.01 in 1500m at the Duke Invitational to finish 34th overall and wrapped the season at the 2012 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships, taking13th in 1500m with season-best 4:52.33.


Muldowney competed in three outdoor meets, coming away with four top-15 finishes throughout the season.  The Hoover, Ala., native's best finish was fourth in 10,000m (36:52.21) at the 2012 Atlantic Sun Outdoor Championships.  Muldowney also finished fifth in 5000m (17:49071) at same meet.  She finished 15th of 64 in the 3000m (10:10.52) at the Vanderbilt Black and Gold Invitational and ran a season-best 17:32.27 in the 5000m at Duke Invitational, placing seventh.


The A-Sun introduced the new sport-by-sport Academic All-Conference teams this fall to recognize student-athletes who embody the conference's mission of Building Winners for Life. All the members of the team boast a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (GPA) or better and participated in at least half of their team's games.
